Fit Fridays Is Back!!

Those of you who know me, or have been reading Viva Cindy a long time, know that I am a girl who likes to work out. (Years of past posted Fit Fridays Series here)

I started in high school and religiously exercised up until 3 years ago when I had Mateo.  That is over 20 years folks! Wah-waah.

I didn't give up all together mind you, but the only thing I have been religious about is being a mom.
No regrets there, but I have definitely been ready to get it going again.  Im talking -sweating my ass off, breathing hard and tired muscles!  THAT is working out!  The one puzzle piece that has been missing for a while finally fell into place:  My workout partner!

One morning, a couple weeks ago, Ernesto came down for coffee and his head was buzzed! Whaaa?
He had talked about doing it but I was in total shock when I saw him.

Anyhoo.  He said, (paraphrased)  "I feel so light and now and it's time for my body to match."   And just like that we got back in our groove.
We started off running and are now working in Crossfit again.  L-O-V-E Crossfit! Fitty-fit!

I ordered a newer model of my trusted running shoes. The Asics GT2170 are so cushiony and comfy.  They felt like clouds after running in my older pair.   MPG workout wear is awesome and it's half price at TJMaxx.  Of course I pulled out my old ipod shuffle, which is just the perfect size.

It's amazing what some new workout gear can do for motivation.  Also a pushy husband helps.

The Crossfit we did the other day (above) was a b$%&!
Run 200 meters (with a hill)
25 double-unders jump rope (or 60 singles for me because I can't do the doubles...yet)
10 box jumps
Repeat for 5 rounds (no resting)
That box is 24 inches by the way.  It gets your heart pumping straight away.  Damn good workout! Besides CF and running we finally went to our neighborhood pool with the kids [after 2.5 years of living here].
Not sure why we waited so long to go.  It was awesome!  We were able to take turns and swim 500 meters.  One mile.  I know swimming is good workout, so I don't know why I was surprised to be breathing hard after the first lap. We were both sore that night and into the next day.  A winner workout in my book.  The boys had a great time as well, so we are going to hit it twice next week.

Im excited to keep our momentum going.  Also, at the end of this month, we will be seeing my brother Tim (who turned us on to CF) so I know we will bust out some workout with him.

Have you guys been working out much this Summer?

Fit Fridays!

The country is being hit by a summer heat wave.  Atlanta is in the high 90's-low 100's and guess what?  It's not even humid.  It feels like we are in Arizona.

Ernesto and I have been getting out of the house early to get our workouts in before the sun comes over the trees at the Olympic Track, just two block from our house.   Its a perfect place to do Crossfit [on the go] workouts.  We did 5 days last week and are going for 6 this week.

Im having trouble going down the stairs because my legs are sore, but I consider this a good thing.  We have been doing a lot of sprints, lunges/squats and those damn burpees.

For example:
Sprint 100 meters and do 20 air squats.  Repeat 10 times.
10 burpees, 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups.  10 rounds
Run one mile. and stop every minute for 30 walking lunges.
Run one mile for time.
(This week was 8:10 and my goal was 8:00, so I was chided by my "trainer.")

What about you guys?  are you working out in this heat?

The Return of.... FIT FRIDAYS

I haven't kept up with my FitFriday series since I found out I was pregnant, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working out:)
Ernesto and I are ON A ROLL!!!

Since January I have been walking 3-4 miles everyday,  running some and throwing in Crossfits here and there.

However, in the last 4 weeks,  Ernesto has been doing Crossfit workouts religiously, which means I have too!  I always workout when he does [although sometimes I modify to CrossfitMom].

I feel so good!  Is this about to change?  I am in my last trimester and I have to expect things are going  change from this piece of cake pregnancy I am having.   I have cut my sugar intake waaaaaaaaay back to ensure I have a healthy weight.  I am mentally prepared to pack on the pounds in the upcoming weeks and can feel confident that whatever I do gain is what my body [and baby] needs.

I will continue my workouts as long as I can ...and hopefully walk to the hospital the day I deliver!

The Weekend and Fit Fridays: It's been a while!

 Good morning Viva Cindy readers!  What are your plans this weekend?  We are up early this morning for a road trip to Cincinnati, Ohio.  (if only it was going to be as pretty as the picture above)  I have committed to running some gem shows for my friend Arif this winter/spring.   Working a couple days a week, say, every other week is a good schedule, don't you think?  It really works out perfectly.  We will be hitting some cities in the south that we haven't been to before, so Im looking forward to experiencing something new.  On the itinerary: Memphis, Greensboro, Nashville, Pensacola, Chattanooga, Greenville, and Jacksonville.  These are all short trips from Atlanta and should be fun.  I see a blogging series on the horizon: "One night in Memphis"

I was hesitant to commit to this  show in Ohio.  Eight hours in the car to spend 2 nights?  Oh, the things I will do for money!  I have never driven to Ohio to see my family in all the years I have lived in Atlanta.  Until now.  I have made this trip about my family.  I suggested that my parents meet us for dinner Saturday night.  (a 3 hour drive for them)  Infact my dad suggested we stay Sunday night so he and Ernesto can watch the big football games.  It was amazing how my attitude changed when I knew I would see my parents.

Yes,  I am now looking forward to the drive!  I got my oil changed yesterday. I bought some snacks. We have downloaded a bunch of podcasts.  (This American Life is one of our favorites!)   And I have a couple books in my itunes as well.   This will be a practice run for the real road trip next week to Tuscon Arizona.

On to Fit Fridays!
After a holiday hiatis of 30 days or so, I am starting my workouts again.

Remember back in November I started the INSANITY 60 day challenge? Well I was about 2 weeks shy of finishing when Christmas rolled around and that was it.  I felt so good that I ate everything I wanted over the holidays and still felt good!!  Since I don't own a scale, I can't say I lost weight.  That wasn't my goal anyway.  What I can say is that I felt better afterwards.  More firm. Tighter.  Stronger.  All good things.

This week I did only two of the Insanity workouts and got outside on freedom trail when it was sunny.  It's a start.  Have you guys started any new years workout programs or are you like me just easing in [at the end of January]?

Fit Fridays: DAY 41 OF INSANITY

Well, I am still on the INSANITY bandwagon.  I have to be honest, I am so ready for this "challenge" to be over!  I can't believe I have lasted this long.  It is causing way more planning and routine than I like in my life.

Today marks day 41 out of 63.  This week I started the second month of workouts where the workouts got harder and even longer than the first month.  I have determined that Shaun T is in fact, insane.
 Some of the moves he does makes me shake my head and shout expletives.

But the bottom line is this: I am in shape, my muscles are more defined, and most importantly, I can eat whatever the heck I want because I am burning a lot of calories....6 days a week. Viva Insanity!

Fit Fridays: INSANE TIMES

I though I would pop in to say hi this week while I have a free minute.
I have just finished up my 3rd week of the INSANITY workouts.  9 more to go.  9 more weeks and 6 days a week?!  UGH! That sounds horrible.

It is about the only "Cindy time" I can squeeze in lately. Ernesto and I are starting to get crazy busy.  My phone is ringing off the hook and I'm driving all over Atlanta giving estimates for Christmas light installation.  We have already surpassed last year's sales and we have another 4 weeks to go! woo-hoo!

For me, the best time to do it is in the morning of course, before I start getting Christmas Light Pro calls for estimates.
 My review of the INSANITY videos is the same as week one:  it's a great workout!  I am always drenched in sweat and feel good afterward.  I have to say though, that Im getting a little bit bored and quite sick of that feeling that my workout is hanging over my head all day.  I liked my old way.  If I didn't get my workout in, I didn't get it in.  But for some reason this workout, with the calendar prominently staring at me from the refrigerator, MUST. BE. CHECKED. OFF.  EACH. DAY.   I do love how the videos concentrate on your core.  INSANE RESULTS!  That is what Im shooting for. We will see what I look like in 6 more weeks!

Fit Fridays: INSANITY

Ok, here is the deal.  Last year when Ernesto and I started getting busy with the Christmas Lights, we didn't stick to any kind of workout schedule.  This was understandable for him, but me?  Why didn't I work out?  I really like working out in the outdoors, and when the crappy weather rolled in, I lost my desire to get out and DO SOMETHING.

This year I am not going to let that happen!  My bother and sister and niece have been doing the 60 day challenge of INSANITY and told me it is a great workout!  I was hesitant to start it on principal alone, I mean, there is an info-mmercial for this thing.   And although I am in disbelief of any workout that promises dramatic results in a short time,  I thought this program could work perfectly for our xmas light season.  It's indoors and I can do anytime when I have an hour to spare between estimates.  Sure, I'll give it a try, why not?  The most important thing for me [regarding my 20 years of fitness] is that I feel good when I DO SOMETHING.  Laziness does not suit me.
I started on Monday Nov 1, and after 6 workouts, I must say, INSANITY is a damn good workout!  Im already sweating MAO after the 10 minute warm up. (I do sweat a lot anyway)  The workouts are about 40 minutes long, and if you are not in shape, you will struggle to keep up.  I consider myself to be in very good shape, and I fell behind with a few tough moves. (going from ski abs to in-and-outs) I will do 6 consecutive days of workouts and one rest day....for 60 days!  The question is:  Will I get ripped like the hot-ass instructor Shaun T?  Only time will tell.
Ok, after saying all of the above, I have to let you know that I did not have pay for the set of DVD workouts, nor would I ever pay $130 for any workout.   Convenience is key for a life of habitual fitness and walking into my garage for Crossfit, or out on the street for a run for this last year has convinced me I don't ever need to pay for a gym membership.

Will INSANITY work for you?  I don't know.  Do you have the discipline and motivation to workout 6 days a week for 60 days? If not, then no.  No, you won't see results.  But if you stick to it, Im sure that 40 minutes of cardio, 6 days a week will yeild some kind of change.

Im sure so many people buy this program and never ask themselves that question, before buying.  And that, my friends....that is why we call them suckers.
 **In addition to the workouts, I have been drinking a gallon of water per day and have cut down on sugar [or eating sweets]. Maybe I should take a before and after body shot so I can be one of the next testimonials in the info-mmercial.

Fit Fridays: Critical Mass Halloween Ride

It was just last month that I learned about the monthly Critical Mass bike rides. There were a couple hundred people on that ride and I thought it was so fun! Riding in such a large group and stopping traffic on busy Atlanta streets was so cool. On last Fridays' Critical Mass, over 430 people showed up for the Halloween ride and most of them were wearing costumes.
Smita had already had her costume on from work that day (iphone app: plants vs zombies) and Ernesto and I painted our faces like Day of the Dead.
It turned out being a very frustrating evening as I got separated from the group and ended up riding the busy Atlanta streets on my own (wearing all black no less).  How did I get separated from a group of 400 people you ask? No, Im not a slow rider!  I had to stop and try to coordinate [by phone] with two other lost riders (Grrrrr....Smitter and Nester!) and by the time I did that, the riders were out of site.

I still probably rode around 10 miles that night, but the group went 20 and I.....Ugh!  I don't want to talk about it anymore.

Here are a few pics at the begining of the ride.  Happier times.

After the ride we ended up hanging out and the Elmyr in Little 5 for a little bit.  Everyone [but me] was tired from the long ride... grrrrr...
Oh well, lesson learned:  Don't use a cell phone or worry about lost people when you are riding your bike.

PS. FIT FRIDAYS was not posted the last week, but you didn't miss much.  Only I did. There were a few short runs over the last couple weeks. One Crossfit.  So Sad!

Last year at this time [xmas lighting season] I didn't workout much, because Ernesto didn't workout at all.  This is why I will be trying the 60 day challenge of INSANITY on my own.  My neice, sister, brother and sis-in-law are doing it and although I prefer to work out outside, this should fit into my schedule and there is no weather barriers to consider.
I am starting this on Monday Nov1, along with no sweets [til Thanksgiving] and trying to drink a gallon of water every day!  Somethin' different!

Fit Fridays: Ti ti

This week just flew by, didn't it?  Mine was filled with joy.  I think this picture will explain it.
Look at my cute little babies:
TI TI & HIS PAPI HAVE A LOT IN COMMON
I didn't even want to leave the house all week so I could spend time with my little Ti ti.  He is doing really well.  He's using the litter box and eating kitty food.  He is really funny too.  He's chasing around his toys: balls with bells and a squeaking mouse, jumping up for feathers and climbing his way up the bed, chairs and legs.   I already have him trained to come running when I call him.  He likes to hide in my Tico pot.
He also likes to sleep a lot, especially on my sheepskin rug.
Nothing seemed more important as giving lots of attention to my new kitty.  However we did manage to get a lot of work done for The Christmas Light pros,  do a few more estimates and get our workouts in.

Saturday: rest
Sunday:  Run Atlanta Belt Line to Piedmont Park
Monday:  Run 4 miles
Tuesday: Crossfit: 5 rounds:  run 800 meters, 30 wall balls, 30 box jumps,
Wednesday: Crossfit: 9-27-27 /6-18-18 /3-6-6 of thrusters, pull-ups, bar dips
Thursday: Crossfit:  4 rounds or 50 sumo dead lifts
Friday: rest

[Not So] Fit Fridays

VIEW OF MIDTOWN FROM PIEDMONT PARK
Mis padres came to the ATL this week and we had such a nice time!    I went walking with my dad on the freedom trail twice.  Although we did walk 4 miles each time, and at a fast pace I might add,  Nester says that doesn't count for a workout.  I kind of agree, but it's better than nothing, right?

Other activities during the week:
* guys played golf & my mom and I hit TJMaxx
* Ate at Taqueria del Sol (my parents' favorite restaurant)
* Neto made his fish tacos
* Smoked a huge pork butt (just like last week)
* started on upholstery project (separate post on that)
* searched a couple fabric stores for said upholstery project
* relaxing/reading on the deck
* played cards every night
* relaxed at Piedmont Park (played cards)

Fit Fridays and Cooler Weather!

Finally, cooler weather seems to have descended on Atlanta.  The days are still sunny and warm, but we have turned off the air conditioning and have slept with our windows open the past few nights.  I love it!

As the picture above shows, Ernesto's back is pliable again.  Those deadlifts were a killer, but after a week of "rest" (and that just means no workouts) he is able to swing a golf club again. Progress.
This week went by so quickly, I can't even remember what I did?!  Boring.
Because Ernesto was not working out, I slacked a bit on mine too.  Only one Crossfit and a couple short runs.  Bad girl.

Saturday-Monday: rest
Tuesday:  run 4 miles

Wednesday: Crossfit: 5 rounds of: run 400 meters, 30 box jumps, 30 wall balls (Lucy blogged it!)
Thursday: rest
Friday: run 4miles

Fit Fridays: Back Breaking!

RIDING WITH CRITICAL MASS THROUGH ATLANTA
 Not a great week for workouts, but I must say I was very productive in other areas.  Zafiro Jewelry!
 Since I went to the Mart a couple weeks ago and bought all these beautiful gems, I realized that I also needed some chain.  The Atlanta Arts Festival really cut down on my inventory (not that I'm complaining) I needed to make more necklaces for this weekends' show in Sandy Springs.  So I did.

Workouts as follows:

Saturday-Monday: rest
Tuesday: walk 3 miles and Crossfit: "Helton" WOD
Three rounds for time of:
Run 800 meters
Dumbbell squat cleans, 30 reps
30 Burpees

Wednesday: walk 3 miles (this doesn't really count as a workout, just a bonus)
Thursday: rest

Friday:  Crossfit: "The Seven" WOD
Seven rounds for time of:
7 Handstand push-ups
135 pound Thruster, 7 reps
7 Knees to elbows
245 pound Deadlift, 7 reps
7 Burpees
7 Kettlebell swings, 2 pood
7 Pull-ups

"The Seven" workout is the one that Ernesto did on Wednesday and threw out his back while doing the deadlifts.  Pobrecito.  He is much better now [that he is on drugs] but he was bedridden and in pain for 24 hours.  I was very careful (and even went a little lighter on weight) when I did my dead lifts.

Critaical Mass Bikeride: 10 miles  Our friend Jason told us about Critical Mass.  On the last Friday of every month, hundreds of bikers meet downtown and enjoy stopping traffic on some of Atlanta's busiest streets.  It was a great ride!  We started at Woodruff Park downtown and continued on through west midtown, Georgia Tech campus, Atlantic Station, 17th street bridge, the Prado, the Atlanta botanical gardens,  Virginia Highlands, Inman Park and then ended at our place.  It was such a great tour. Many cities around the country are organizing groups rides like this.  Check your city to see if they do something similar.
YEP! A MALE BIKINI RIDER.  BRAZILIAN. GO FIGURE.

Fit Fridays: Busy Busy

Busy week here in Atlanta!!  Treffry was here from Columbus Ohio and we combined collections of Zafiro Jewelry and Pluma Jewelry for the Atlanta Arts Festival in Piedmont Park.  We had a wonderful weekend hanging out together and it was a record success for both of us!
ME & TREF IN FRONT OF THE ATLANTA SKYLINE
Treff came in a couple days before the show and we made our way around the city! Thursday we scoured the Howell Mill design area and Friday we checked out a few Buckhead boutiques.  I have some great pictures to share and more details about our awesome weekend coming soon!

But First....

Although this week I was only able to squeeze in two Crossfit workouts, they were doozies.

Fit Fridays and Week Update!

What an awesome week I've had!  Kate was in town and although she had to work all week, we had a lot of fun girl time too!  It was great catching up.  Oh and her interview about working/living in Haiti is coming to Viva Cindy soon- I know you will enjoy it!

This girl is a shopper!  Not many people can hang with me, but Kate actually took longer than me.  She had a long list of things she wanted to bring back to Haiti with her, and darn it, I had to accompany her!  Thursday and Friday we hit 2 TJMaxx's and a Marshals, totaling about 8 hours of shopping!  Since I had $$$ burning a hole in my pocket from my show last weekend, I treated myself to a few shirts and a great new pair of jeans.  If you haven't been to these stores lately...GO!  There are such great deals on clearance items right now.  Best buy:  a navy Tahari  trench coat on clearance for $35! The original Tahari tag read: $298! Wow!   I saw so many clothes that I would've have bought if only I had an office job.  Fashion is what I miss most about working.  Oh and the steady paycheck!  Oh well, I will be crazy busy with the Christmas lights soon so maybe next year!

Besides shopping this week we:
- called on businesses for Christmas Lights Pros
 - attended birthday cookout at my friend Lucy's
- Steph stayed over for one night (she was in town from Costa Rica) So great to have the girls together again!
- we restaurant hopped: ate tuna tartar at Serpas followed by arugula procciutto pizza at Fritti
- had dinner at One Midtown Kitchen. (try the lamb carpaccio and smoked trout!)
- homemade Indian dinner with Smita
- enjoyed salmon cakes that Ernesto made- so tasty!

Yes, it does seem that my whole week was about eating, but I did balance it with 4 workouts! Thank you very much!

Fit Fridays and Crossfit !!

Here is what the week entailed:
Saturday: rest
Sunday: rest
Monday: Crossfit: thruster-5 reps, hang power cleans -7 reps, sumo deadlifts-10 reps. repeat for 20 min

Fit Fridays: That's Right!

What an awesome week to come back to Atlanta. Yes, it is still 90 degrees, but it is not nearly as humid. It's been perfect weather for being outside, especially in the early morning and evening. We got our workouts in before it got too hot out. Pictured here: Today's killer Crossfit workout.  My arms and shoulders are going to be sore tomorrow!

Heres how my other workouts went this week:

Saturday: hike 3 miles at Gorges State Park
Sunday: rest
Monday: rest
Tuesday: Crossfit: 5 rounds of: 50 18" jumps, 40 squats, 30 sit-ups, 20 push-ups, 10 pull-ups
Wednesday: Crossfit:   20 seconds of squats, rest 10 seconds. Repeat for 4 minutes.  6 dips- 6 pull-ups.  Repeat for 4 minutes.  Bike 20 miles on the Silver Comet Trail.

Thursday: Crossfit:  7 rounds of 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 [reps] of 2 exercises: pull-ups and handstand push-ups
Friday: [pictured above] Crossfit: 7 rounds of 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 [reps] of 2 exercises: sumo dead lifts and push jerks. I die!

Besides being a great workout week, I have been productive in other areas which always makes me feel good.  Most of my time was spent on preparing for upcoming jewelry shows.  I have 3 this month!  I know, when it rains, it pours!

Other things that went on:
- I called on potiencial clients (businesses) for the Christmas Light Pros
- Re-designed layout and colors of my booth for the jewelry show this weekend, Arts on the Creek
- tried a new recipebeef & bean chile verde and it was delicious! (you must substitute the jar salsa in the recipe for homemade- try this one from VLC.)
- Baked a lemon pound cake w
ith lemon curd for my friend Lucy's birthday (plus we hung out all day and it was great!)

Fit Fridays: HOT HOT HOT!

We had been home only one week after our summer trip and had to leave again. I have to say I was not excited about traveling again.  Yes, I said that. But...Ernesto's college friend Roman was getting married on a boat off of Long Island NY, which was very exciting. Plus we made some arrangements to spend time in the city and meet up with my college roommate Michelle.

I have a lot to tell you about the trip.  We had a great time with my friend, Ernesto took a Man vs. Food challenge, and the wedding was so beautiful and unique.  I will  show and tell you all about it just as soon as I get my camera in the mail.  Yep, I left my evening bag which had my camera and my license and didn't discover it until we were almost to the airport.  UGH!  Luckily for me, I keep a copy of our passports in my suitcase for such screw ups.
Stone Mountain
On to Fit Fridays!
Since we do not belong to a gym, we always work out in our home Crossfit gym in the garage.  I love just walking downstairs to workout.  There is something to be said about convenience, don't you agree?  As you can imagine, the garage has no air conditioning.  I sweat a lot anyway, but in this heat I look like I just took a shower after working out.  Maybe it's because we were in cool San Diego this summer, but I don't mind sweating too much.

Saturday: 30 mile bike ride to [and fro] Stone Mountain and 30 min climb to the top
Sunday: rest
Monday: Crossfit:  50 double under jump ropes and 50 sit ups.  then 40 of each. then 30. then 20 then 10.
Tuesday: Crossfit:  3 rounds of 30 wallballs and 30 squat-snatches (this was so hard!)
Wednesday:  rest  [in NY sore as hell from Tuesday's Crossfit]
Thursday:  rest  [in NY sore as hell again]
Friday: rest  [in NY]

Pictures are from our bike ride to Stone Mountain:

Back to the ATL & Fit Fridays

Being home these last few days have been wonderful. We had such a great summer in San Diego and Arnold week with my family in Ohio was awesome!   I think it really makes you appreciate things if you leave for a while.  I guess that is why they say absence makes the heart grow fonder, or that you don't know what you have until it's gone.
Walking up our stairs with all my plants and beautiful pottery was such a great feeling.  (A few plants did not pull through, but since I have mostly succulents, the garden still looks great)
{thriving succulents}
{more succulents}
{rosemary and creeping jenny}
Yes, our apartment is only 600 square feet, but I missed our little place.  I missed our cozy living room, the soft sheets on our bed, and our well-equipt kitchen.  Mostly I missed being alone and making dinners with mi amorrrrr.  We jumped right back into cooking and made 2 new recipes this week.  I picked this one, a seared steak and edamame salad, and slightly adapted the recipe.

{sorry for the horrible picture with flash, it was 10pm and I was hungry}
On to FIT FRIDAYS:
Even though there was a lot going on this week, I managed to squeeze in a few workouts.

Saturday: rest
Sunday: Gillian Michaels DVD (it was tough!)
Monday: Crossfit  10 minutes of non-stop burpees (it doesn't sound hard, but try it!)
Tuesday: rest [in the airport all day]
Wednesday: run to Kroger and walk home with groceries (2.5 miles)
Thursday: rest
Friday: Crossfit  "Fran" pictured below.   3 rounds - 21-15-9 [reps]  of thrusters and pull-ups
One other reason Im happy to be home:  Hi Rare rare...my little ti ti was waiting!

Fit Fridays: San Diego Part 5

Well, we are on our last full week here in San Diego.  I wish I could say it was a fit one, but alas the entertaining, the beers.....The below picture is from a bar called Toronado in North Park, a cool little neighborhood just north east of downtown.  I sampled a few local beers which were to my liking, unfortunately I forget the names.

 I have not always been a beer snob, but long gone are the days that I drink any 'ol beer just to drink.  It seems in the last year I have really zeroed in on my favorite type:  IPA's.  (more hops please, I like it bitter)
Our Atlanta friends left Wednesday night, so we are trying to get back to our "regular schedule" (haha..like there is such a thing)  Entertaining all week left us no time to work out.  That sounds so believable, doesn't it?  Truth is, we didn't even leave the house before 2pm any of the days they were here, so there was plenty of time to work out.  I will just say what I always say when we skip workouts, "it's good to give your body a rest now and again."

Since both of our friends has already been to San Diego, we didn't have a long list of "must see-and-do's."  And despite never leaving the house early, we had quite a busy week.

Hiking Cowles Mountain this morning, is about the only thing I would qualify as a workout, but....

Here is the week in pictures:

{hanging out at Balboa Park}

{visiting sea lions and seals in La Jolla}

{making a friend at Torrey Pines}

{hiking Cowles Mountain}

{cochinita pibil tacos}

{watching los Padres at Petco Park)

{kayaking La Jolla caves}
