Wednesday Weekly: Color me Yellow!

I have been blogging for years now.  It wasn't until just a year and a half ago though when I really started subscribing to other people's blogs.  I became, dare I say, addicted to reading blogs.  Many of them are design blogs; others are about crafting, cooking, etc..  (you can see the list of them on the right side)  You should check them out, they are a lot of fun, and best of all inspiring.  So much so that I couldn't keep track of all the ideas running through my head.
On the recommendation of my friend Lauren, I started a folder on my computer called "lookbook" and it is here that I save all the pictures that inspire me in some way.
I thought I would start sharing with you, and my first batch is YELLOW!
Can you believe this house? You see why im inspired right?  The bright yellow shutters are so unexpected and the striped curtains really say "welcome!"  As a result of this picture, I bought yellow and white fabric at a flea market in San diego and it's patiently waiting to be created into something!

I can't say when it started, but it could have been with that gold leather Sophie C bag that I bought at TJMaxx 3 years ago.  With all of the rich yellow I am seeing everywhere, I can't tell you when it will end either.   Just last week I bought a great vintage-y striped apron at a thrift store.

Just to be clear, it's not buttery yellow it is bright, rich, almost gold. And you know how crazy I am about gold!   Something about this bright color makes me happy. (yes, mom, kind of like your kitchen!)
Example #2:
I would be in heaven with these curtains.  Let me rephrase that, I will be in heaven when I get/make these curtains!  They would cheer up any room.  Oh my and this yellow silk headboard too!
What about this silk chiffon dress?  Isn't there a wedding to attend this year?  This is the design of Kathy Rose.  She was a contestant on Bravo's  Launch My Line.  She won!
Besides the list of my yellow inspiration, I have the folowing yellow items:  the above fabric (and more), many articles of clothing (skirts, shirts, tunics), three leather bags, this embroidered Otomi beadspread, fabric napkins, oh and the list goes on.   Just for the record, I will always love turquoise, but I am a girl with many loves. Besides yellow, I am also loving anything orange.  What are your favorite colors?

Weekly Listy List: Why Im Excited to Return to Atlanta

Ernesto and I have been out west for over a month now. Last night we arrived back to San Diego after an awesome road trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon with mis suegras (details and pics coming soon).

It's not that I'm sick of traveling; I don't think you will ever hear that come out of my mouth. With that being said, I am excited to get back to our little apartment.

Here are the reasons:

Why Im Excited to Return to the ATL
  1. Spring in Atlanta is so beautiful. It makes me happy.
  2. I have a jewelry show at St. Simon's Island this weekend (new sand too!)
  3. Ernesto and I can have some alone time (wink wink)
  4. See if house plants are alive/plant all my containers/ sow seeds for flowers
  5. Clothing variety (I am a bit sick of the selection in my one carry-on for a month long trip)
  6. Check if the new garden shop near grant park needs summer help.
  7. Verify with Public Storage if our unit was in fact broken into and the contents stolen??
  8. Check out the hiking trails in North Georgia (I want to keep this hiking roll going)
  9. Pet my little Rare-Rare

Listy List: Happy St Patty

Even though I will not be drinking to celebrate St Patty's, it was the alcohol related messages that really made me laugh from someecards. There are a bunch more here.

I decided my Wednesday listy list should be related to green.

Green Foods I love: Top 5

1. this salsa verde (green salsa made with avocados, tomatillos, cilantro, serrano peppers)

2. asparagus

3. brussel sprouts

4. granny smith apples

5. tomatillos

Others include: broccoli, spinach, lettuce, kale, bell peppers, cucumbers, snow/snap peas, etc.

Ok, really, I haven't met a green food that I don't like.
What are your favorites?

Wednesday Weekly: Favorite Childhood TV Shows

This weeks list is short but sweet. We weren't huge TV watchers when I was growing up, but I definitely had my favorites. Now when I think of this list, it's not just the shows that make me smile but the memories of my family life around them.

The Jeffersons -My dad got home from work every night at 5:30p, which is when this show came on. When it was over at 6pm we sat down for dinner. Every night.

Knight Rider and Dukes of Hazzard - These shows make me think of the big green Tupperware bowl that my mom served popcorn in every Friday night when we watched. Btw, She still has this bowl. Good quality that Tupperware.

Love Boat - Saturday nights, after my mom's homemade pizza. We weren't able to watch this show at first because my mom thought "it's not for kids" but when her mother told her it was a good show - we were allowed.

Transformers- everyday after school. Come on, I had 3 brothers so it was on anyway.

What were your favorite shows? Im sure I have forgotten a couple. Mom? Siblings? Any other memories come to mind?

Wednesday Weekly: Concerts I Have Seen

I ran across this great site called Wordle. It's has program that generates tag clouds with words that you type in. I had a lot of fun with this today. You can pick the colors, font, direction of words. Imagine this printed out and framed! This is art! My wheels are turning. What a great gift for a friend or family member...or hang it in your baby's room (barb!?) or your studio.

I started typing in what I thought were random words, but when I looked closer I saw that these are all things I enjoy in my life.
Then I popped in all of the tags from my posts and came up with this busy cloud.
Anyway, back to the main point of this post. Today is Wednesday and this weeks listy-list is of: Concerts I have Been To (I may have forgotten a few/added one or two since events before this blog can sometimes be fuzzy)
(Lists still posted at Listography but since today I am fascinated with Wordle, I posting in a more decorative way )
What theme will you use? Be careful, this site can easily suck up an hour.

Listography -Live from Asheville

What we thought would be a short weekend in Asheville has now turned into a weeks vacation. Since E and I don't have any particular reason for returning to Atlanta, we have taken over the futon in Brrrian cute-ass apartment, and have been exploring this cool town.

This post is not to tell you about Asheville (that will be coming up soon) but to tell you about this cool site called listography that I learned about over on hulaseventy. It is a site just for listy-lists. Since I am always making lists, I was very excited when I saw a place to house all of them in an organized fashion.

Starting today, Wednesdays will be a day for a series of posts featuring...you guessed it... listy lists!

My first one is called:

Each week I will post a different one (the site even has a "list generator" in case you aren't feeling inspired)

Feel free to add to my list about Brrrian in the comments below.
