Paloma is THREE!!!

OMG PALOMA! You are so beautiful I can hardly stand it!!!
The morning surprise is a tradition. Decorations and presents waiting on the table.
This little girl is easy to please...headbands and hand sanitizer "hanitizer" haha
Her hermanos crowded in sat close by just in case she needed help unwrapping.
They were not impressed by her gifts, but the Peppa Pig jammies and coloring books  made the birthday girl super excited!

Paloma has been climbing out of her crib for months.  It wasn't really a problem though.  Not once did she fall out.  #expertclimber   BUT! We thought it was a good time for a "big girl bed"
And why not make it a surprise for her birthday?  I kept envisioning a "while you were out" scenario.  We would switch out the beds while she was at school and she would walk in and see the bed and new bedding and say her infamous line "what the heck?"

We had mentioned a big girl bed before and she liked this idea in theory, but she was not excited AT ALL when she saw it the first time.

The next day when a guy came to our house pick up the crib (I sold in on FB mkt) she CRIIIIIIED and cried...."don't get rid of my crib mami.  I might need it when I get smaller"  waaaaaaaaaa

Besides her surprise "big girl bed" she scored this PINK balance bike.  And if you are wondering... yes, everything must be pink!
She wasn't this excited at first.  She eventually stopped crying and was excited to get outside and try out her new bike, but the emotions of the new bed spilled over into the driveway.
Upon mounting the new bike, a wave of emotion came over her.

Yes, it was a video, but Im not going to let you watch it.  It's just too sad.
After the sad bit, there was a brief mad stage, (what for???) after which she was happily dancing and smiling.
It's hard turning three.

For a couple months before her big day, we had been seeing the trailer for the Small Foot movie.  She would say every time "should we go see small foot on my birthday?"
Yes. Yes we should.  It was cute.
After the movie it was time for the long awaited PINK CAKE! "should I have a pink birthday cake?"
I whipped up my go to white cake recipe (with almond extract-so good!) and added a few drops of red food coloring and wa-la! A pink cake!
Add some classic buttercream frosting and a certain PIG family and I arrived at exactly what this three year old wanted.

So. Happy.
As with all birthdays, the candle must be re-lit many times for the birthday boy/girl to
actually be the first one to blow out the candle.

We partied like it was her birthday.

Mateo Turns SEVEN!!!

Yep! That pretty much sums up this seven year old interests.  SOCCER. Ha!  Nerf guns are a recent obsession [that Im not overly excited about] but the boys do have fun building their battle grounds.

Well I guess I should mention his favorite tv shows : Scooby-Do and Loud House.  Also, he is music obsessed.  He learns words really quickly too -just like his mami.  Current favorites: A few songs by Blink-182, Electric Kingdom (a break dancing favorite introduced by papi) and Sean Paul's Temperature and Get Busy. (We blast these in the car)

The night before the big day I painted a little sign and "streamed" the light fixture.  Presents sitting out on the table.  I have set the bar and this is what is expected in our casa on birthday mornings.
I hung some new soccer pants [that his papi bought him] on his closet door. He came up wearing them at 5am, "is it my birthday yet?" and I had to get him back to sleep.
The excitement brewed at 6am so we brewed the coff coff.
Everyone started off happy.  But as the presents were opened, Marcelo's happiness faded.

Oh Marcelo....That face!  Right after this picture, Mateo gave his brother one of his Beyblades....which is exactly what we were hoping would happen:) Whew!

He was quite happy with his new Garmin Vivofit Jr.  The steps counting alone is great and there are some other features (like reminders for chores!?!) that we have yet to explore.

We picked both boys up early from school and headed to a surprise adventure.

Have you guys heard of IFLY?  This was Ernesto's idea, and not a cheap one. But hey!  YOLO

They watched in awe almost unable to comprehend what was about to happen.
They suited up and listened intently to the instructors directions.
These guys turned into skydivers....ooooh for a good 5 minutes.  haha

Then, in ALL the gear....waited their turn patiently outside the biggest, loudest wind chamber I have ever seen.
Here is a video so you can see what happens:

How they were not scared, I don't know.  I kept thinking Willy Wonka's fizzy lifting drink.  "Hey! Instructor, don't let go of my kids or they might be sucked into that powerful fan at the top."

They were thoroughly entertained and quite proud of their official certification.

All in all a pretty fun Wednesday birthday.  He picked out a beautiful (and delicious) chocolate cake from Whole Foods and his day was complete.

SEVEN! WOW!  Im just not sure how 7 years have gone by.  Hello, I am Cindy and I have been  parenting for 7 years.  Does that mean I should be getting the hang of it by now? 😬

Mateo had some gift cards from Target to spend and in a moment of kindness (and pure excitement), he decided he would spend some of his money on his brother.
Their choice was not my favorite, but .... it is one of their common obsessions interests.  I mean nerf guns are bringing them closer.  haha

Because his birthday fell on a weekday, I felt the need to pull together a quick after school party that Friday with some boys in his class.
And boy oh BOY what a great turnout for 48 hours notice!

Nerf guns kept 9 boys busy/happy outside so five moms could hang out and have some girl time.
A win-win!

Happy birthday to my big boy, my beautiful baby you will always be!
